Clearing and Forwarding Manager

Wilmaar Logistics (T) Ltd is seeking a dynamic and experienced Clearing and Forwarding Manager to join their team in Tanzania. This is a Full-Time position.

About the Role

The Clearing and Forwarding Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of import and export clearance and forwarding operations. This includes managing documentation, liaising with government agencies, shipping lines, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient movement of goods.

Key Responsibilities:

• Issuance of shipping and documentary instructions to suppliers, and follow-up for import documentation completion.
• Follow-up on issues with shipping lines regarding D/Os, ICD nominations, empty unit returns, and related matters through the shipping team.
• Follow-up on assignments and various Government permits with the imports team.
• Oversee customs documentation and clearing processes through the imports customs operations team.
• Track the port/ICD clearing status of consignments and ICD nominations via the shipping team.
• Manage L/C issuances and related matters, including amendments, in coordination with the Procurement team/Banks.
• Handle email and letter correspondence with various local and international correspondents.
• Undertake outdoor tasks, including visits to Customs, banks, ICDs, shipping lines, Government Departments, and inspection companies.
• Manage the clearing of import consignments and documentation with suppliers, customs, regulatory departments, shipping lines, and port/ICD clearances.
• Liaise with external clearing agents for import consignments.
• Engage with TMDA, TBS, GCLA, Weight & Measures for import permits and related issues.
• Follow up on claims with suppliers, insurance (P&I), TPA, shipping lines, etc.
• Coordinate with local and international inspection companies for loading inspections.
• Process payments for taxes, port charges, etc., as required.
• Undertake any other assignments related to the imports department/clearing operations.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Diploma in Clearing and Forwarding.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in shipping and clearing and forwarding.
