As an applicant you should have a good understanding of MS-Office applications, Procurement systems and good command of both Swahili and English languages.

Position details

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Manager to oversee our procurement operations in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the procurement of goods and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and maintaining compliance with company policies and local regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company’s objectives and local market conditions.
• Manage the entire procurement process, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, and purchase execution.
• Establish procurement channels both locally and internationally through platforms like Alibaba.
• Ensure compliance with Tanzanian laws and regulations in procurement activities.
• Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities.
• Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and manage supplier performance.
• Coordinate with various departments to understand their procurement needs.
• Implement cost-saving initiatives and negotiate favourable terms with suppliers.
• Manage procurement budgets and prepare procurement reports for senior management.
• Stay updated on market trends and industry best practices.
• Lead and mentor the procurement team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree minimum
• 5 years of experience in a similar procurement role 
• Ideal candidates will have previous supervisor management responsibilities
• Computer skills with proficiency in MS Office
• Strong problem solver, with hands-on approach to plan and execute well
• Growth mindset and the ability to self-learn and teach others
