The Project Driver will provide reliable and safe transportation support to project staff, goods, and materials across project sites. The role involves frequent field travel to schools and partner locations. The Driver will ensure proper maintenance of the project vehicle, support logistical arrangements, and uphold the organization’s safety and security procedures. Basic mechanical knowledge is an added advantage.
Driving and Transportation
Safely transport staff, visitors, and materials to project sites, meetings, and official assignments.
Conduct frequent field travel to assigned schools and community locations as required by the project work plan.
Ensure adherence to traffic rules, organizational transport policies, and road safety.
Vehicle Care and Maintenance
Conduct daily vehicle checks and ensure road worthiness before each trip.
Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and minor repairs when necessary.
Keep the vehicle clean, fueled, and well maintained.
Track fuel usage, mileage, and service schedules; report mechanical issues promptly.
Logistics & Administrative Support
Assist with loading/unloading project materials and equipment.
Support field logistics such as delivering documents and picking up supplies.
Represent the organization professionally when interacting with partners and communities.
Maintain accurate trip logs, fuel records, and vehicle movement sheets.
Ensure proper custody and security of the vehicle and transported goods.
Compliance, Safety & Representation
Follow organizational safety protocols and security guidelines.
Report accidents, incidents, or security concerns immediately.
Valid Tanzanian driving licence (Class C or above preferred).
At least Form 4 education level (O-Level Certificate).
Possession of a National ID (NIDA).
Minimum 3 years’ driving experience with an NGO, school project, or corporate organization.
Experience driving in rural/field settings and on unpaved roads.
Basic mechanical knowledge is an added advantage.
Ability to accurately fill out and maintain vehicle log books, trip records, and fuel tracking sheets.
Good communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
High level of integrity and professionalism.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing schedules.
Strong understanding of road safety and defensive driving.
Respectful, reliable, and committed to supporting project success.
Knowledge of the project implementation areas (Tabora) is an added benefit.
