Accountant
mHR World Ltd on behalf of our client, we are looking for an Accountant to manage financial processes in our growing agribusiness operation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance to support strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts
- Track actuals vs. budgets and report on variances
- Analyze cost structures, production costs, inventory WIP especially around crops and or product lines
- Maintain general ledger, perform reconciliations, and ensure accuracy of financial data
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments
- Process month end payroll entries and ensure related payables are captured correctly
- Collaborate with receivable accountant to ensure there is an accurate inventory records for raw materials, livestock, inputs, and finished goods
- Calculate and monitor cost of production per unit (e.g., per acre, per head, per liter)
- Prepare and file tax returns (VAT, WHT, income tax, etc.) in compliance with local regulations
- Work with external auditors and ensure regulatory and industry-specific compliance
- Improve and document internal controls over financial transactions
- Use agricultural ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Palladium System)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent preferred
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in agriculture or manufacturing
- Strong understanding of agricultural cycles, inventory valuation, and cost accounting
- Experience with grant reporting, subsidies, or government support programs for agriculture
- Understanding of commodity markets, agri-loans, or rural finance
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
