Project Overview

Pathfinder international in Tanzania has several advocacy projects in support of its Family Planning and Maternal Health programs. These projects include national Family Planning advocacy, mainstreaming of Population, Health, and Environment (PHE), supporting national governments in establishing preventive mechanisms in fighting against Gender and Sexual Based violence and reduction of maternal deaths caused by unsafe abortion and its complications. During the financial year, 2013/2014 Pathfinder International received funding from USAID to spearhead Demographic Dividend modeling initiative in the country. In the year 2014, Pathfinder released the first report whose part of recommendations were adopted in the National Five-Year Development Plan. In 2016, Pathfinder received additional funding to further advance demographic dividend agenda. During this phase, Pathfinder worked with the Government and Department of Economics of the University of Dar es Salaam and through this collaborative process, the government is about to release its Demographic Dividend 2017 Report. In 2018, Pathfinder received additional funding from USAID to support dissemination efforts at national, regional and district levels. To support the smooth implementation of dissemination activities, Pathfinder is recruiting Advocacy Specialist.

Summary:

Provides strategic support in advancing Pathfinder’s programming and leadership on sexual and reproductive health and rights. Represents Pathfinder in external forum/meetings. Liaises with key stakeholders, including local governments, partners, and donors in achieving projects' outcomes. Develops new program and business opportunities. Supports advocacy initiatives for ongoing projects. Manages an integrated public policy program that monitors and responds to current and emerging trends in legislative and regulatory actions that affect sexual and reproductive health funding and policies globally and locally. Works on advocacy projects to enhance resource commitment and to raise the priority of a population’s welfare program within the operational format of public sector undertakings supported by grant assistance. Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors and holds review sessions to observe progress against objectives of the project and drives home the main points of improving commitment and resource allocation for population welfare.
