Position: Laboratory Analyst
Department: DISTILLERY
Office Location: Moshi, Kilimanjaro
Reporting To: Production Manager

Job Summary Statement
The Laboratory Analyst is responsible for conducting laboratory testing and analysis of raw materials, fermentation processes, distilled products, effluents, and water quality to support the production of 50 KLD of Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA). The role ensures compliance with quality standards, provides accurate and reliable analytical data, and supports efficient production and process optimization.
Key Performance Areas (Duties & Responsibilities)
- Support routine laboratory testing of raw materials, fermentation processes, finished products, effluents, and water quality.
- Perform laboratory tests using analytical equipment as required and accurately record test results for analysis and reporting.
- Comply with laboratory procedures, safety rules, and safe working practices to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and work areas in a clean, safe, and operational condition.
- Provide technical support and assistance to Laboratory Analysts as required.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, test reports, and other relevant documentation.
- Assist in laboratory preparation activities and ensure the proper handling, storage, and use of laboratory materials and equipment.
- Contribute to the generation of accurate and reliable laboratory data to support quality control, production processes, and overall laboratory operations.
- Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by his or her Superior.
Academic Qualifications
- Vocational Training Certificate in Laboratory Technology or
- Diploma in Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Food Technology, or Chemical Engineering, experience in sugar processing plant or Distillery plant will be an added advantage.
Work Experience
- Experience in laboratory analysis in sugar industry, distillery, water treatment, or other food processing environments.
- Experience in operating laboratory equipment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in using laboratory instruments (refractometers, Gas Chromatography, pH meters, spectrophotometers).
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
- Knowledge of Office software and data recording systems.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a team and maintain systematic documentation.
Behavioral Competencies
- Being reliable and possess a good work ethic.
- Applicant must be willing to work in a shift system depending on operational or production requirements.
