Position Overview
Job Title: Assistant Manager-Credit Risk
Location: Head Office
Job Purpose: The holder will be responsible for independent monitoring of Credit Risk activities undertaken by the Bank, assess and analyze the performance of Credit operations, ensure that the Credit operations are in compliance with Policies and procedures established by the Bank, Board’s directives, prudential guidelines and circulars issued by the Bank of Tanzania.
Key Responsibilities
- Review the loan book growth trends and its bifurcation into performing, especially mentioned, restructured, non-performing, written off portfolio, secured and unsecured.
- Review concentration risk in the loan book including credit risk exposures by sector, geography, currency, borrower, maturity, product, on and off-balance sheet.
- Review robustness of credit underwriting process including credit rating/scoring models used and ensure conformance with policies and procedures.
- Review adequacy of loan classifications and loan provisions.
- Review NPL containment strategies including top 20 exposures, management of ESM accounts and NPLs, adequacy of security cover and recovery strategies and cure rates.
Candidate Requirements
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline.
- Other professional qualifications or certifications in credit management is desirable and will add more advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience within the Banking Sector.
- At least 2 years of experience within Credit operations.
Personal Attributes:
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Detailed understanding of the risks associated with Credit in the banking business.
- Able to produce quality work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
