Awards Management Specialist Plan International Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Job Type: Full-Time
Closing Date: 30th October 2023
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

Role PURPOSE

Working in over 50 developing countries globally, Plan strives for a just world that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We engage people and partners to:

Our values were developed in close collaboration with staff across the organisation, and were approved by the Members' Assembly in June 2016, meaning they apply across the whole of Plan International.  A set of values defines what is important to us. Our values outline how we should work to secure the change we want to see in the world and to achieve our purpose (in italics above). They support the ambitious long-term goals set by our purpose statement, and guide how we can contribute to achieving the ambitious goals in our current Global Strategy, 100 Million Reasons.

Plan has been working in Tanzania since 1991, and is delivering programs in 13 regions, including through an extension office in the capital Dodoma, head office in Dar es Salaam, field office for the humanitarian response program (Kibondo), and field offices in six rural and remote locations.  We support children to access their rights through our programming in Child Protection, Education, Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Youth Economic Empowerment. Our work includes community-based action, partner strengthening, and advocacy. Disaster risk reduction is integrated in all the work we do, and Plan is committed to providing disaster response support in case of humanitarian disaster.  Plan is currently implementing a humanitarian response program in Kigoma region supporting the Burundi refugee emergency in Tanzania.
