Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Chemical Engineer to support the plant setup and construction, commissioning, and operation of our copper sulphate manufacturing plant. This is a build-phase role suited to an engineer who wants ownership of process systems from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Support process engineering for CuSO₄·5H₂O production — reaction, crystallization, filtration, and drying stages.
- Assist in equipment installation, commissioning, and start-up of plant systems.
- Monitor and optimize process parameters, mass balance, and product quality/yield.
- Operate and maintain the closed-loop / Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system.
- Ensure safe handling of sulphuric acid and copper feedstock, and adherence to HSE standards.
- Maintain batch records, process documentation, and SOPs.
- Coordinate with maintenance, quality, and procurement functions to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements (NEMC, OSHA, GCLA).
Requirements
- B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in a chemical, metallurgical, fertilizer, or inorganic process plant.
- Understanding of reaction chemistry, crystallization, and material/energy balances.
- Exposure to plant commissioning or start-up is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of process safety and handling of acids/hazardous chemicals.
- Willingness to relocate to and work in Bagamoyo, Tanzania.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on, ownership-driven mindset.
Preferred
- Experience with copper sulphate, metal salts, or hydrometallurgical processes.
- Experience with Sulphuric acid handling.
