Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Cost Accountant located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for preparing and analyzing cost accounting data, maintaining financial statements, completing accurate journal entries, and overseeing various finance-related tasks. The role will also involve developing and implementing cost control measures to support the company’s financial objectives.

Key responsibilities:

1. Maintain and update standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead in the ERP system.
2. Analyze actual production costs and prepare monthly cost variance reports (e.g., material usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption)
3. Support the month-end close process by preparing accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) entries.
4. Reconcile inventory accounts and analyze inventory movements, adjustments, and write­ offs.
5. Provide cost analysis to support decision-making for new product pricing, make-or-buy analysis, and process improvements.
6. Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and finance to monitor and optimize cost drivers.
7. Assist with annual standard cost roll-ups and budgeting processes.
8. Conduct ad hoc analysis related to margin analysis, freight costs, and distribution center performance.
