About Us:

The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is an international non-governmental organization that was founded in 1977 that continues Dr. Goodall’s pioneering work on chimpanzee ecology and behavior. Its mission is to promote wildlife conservation, in particular chimpanzee sustainability, through community-based conservation, research, and public awareness. The breadth of JGI’s mission reflects Dr. Goodall’s personal philosophy that the survival of all species, whether chimpanzee or human, depends upon the collaboration of all people.

JGI seeks a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) to support the implementation of chimpanzee conservation efforts in Tanzania. The DCOP provides supervision and support to staff responsible for technical, administrative, and fiscal aspects of chimpanzee conservation programming, while ensuring quality, impact, and cost-effectiveness. Provides leadership to key functions in coordination with the Chief of Party (COP) and assists in defining the program’s strategic direction. Effectively supports the implementation of the project goal; provides guidance and assistance in reporting, documentation, and knowledge management; supports evaluation and monitoring and evaluation; identifies opportunities to enhance program results; and liaises with donors, and partners. Promotes an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.

Duty Position:

The position will be based in Kigoma, Tanzania with frequent travel in western Tanzania and Dar es Salaam.
