YWCA of Tanzania - Deputy National General Secretary Position

The YWCA of Tanzania is a nonprofit, volunteer-led organization dedicated to empowering women and girls to achieve justice, peace, gender equality, good governance, health, and environmental care. We address community needs through relevant programs, focusing on girls, young women, and women. YWCA Tanzania is part of the global YWCA movement in over 125 countries, founded in 1855 and formally established in 1894. YWCA is the world’s oldest women’s movement. In Tanzania, YWCA was founded in 1959 and registered as a national organization in 1969 with its headquarters in Dar es Salaam. Currently, YWCA Tanzania has 20 operating branches and three groups across the country.

Job Title: Deputy National General Secretary (1 Position)

Location: YWCA Tanzania Headquarters, Dar es Salaam

The Deputy National General Secretary oversees the daily operational functions of YWCA Tanzania, ensuring that all established operational systems are adhered to. This role provides effective coordination and administrative systems to ensure efficient and effective functioning in line with the organization’s strategic goals, constitution, and policies. Additionally, the role involves streamlining organizational processes by supporting the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of projects to contribute to the strategic direction of YWCA Tanzania.

• Facility Development, Management & Maintenance
• Compliance and Risk Management
• Stakeholder Coordination and Communication
• Reporting, Preparation of Key Documents and Documentation
• Stakeholder Engagement, Representation and Networking
• International Treaties, National Plan of Action, Country Laws and Regulations
• Other Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Social Sciences, Operations Management, Project Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
• Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in operations and risk management.
• Knowledge and experience of writing winning project/program proposals.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Strong knowledge of budget management, HR, and facilities management.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication in Kiswahili and English.
• High integrity and ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of local labor laws, compliance, and donor regulations is an advantage.
