Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit an ERT Officer to join our team in the Safety Department.  The purpose of this role is to coordinate and carry out Emergency Rescue activities during an emergency within/around the mine site, maintaining ERT equipment as well as provide service & support to employees & Supervisors in respective departments across the Mine with regards to Employee Health and Safety in the workplace. 

Reporting to: ERT Superintendent

Duration: Permanent

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Take charge of Emergency Rescue Team and Operations during underground or surface emergency, Onsite or Off Site
• Readiness to perform Emergency Rescue Operations and leading a rescue team at any time
• Carry out ERT Equipment maintenance, Firefighting Equipment, hydrant, Breathing apparatus and other related rescue equipment
• Conduct On job Coaching and Training to employees on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safe work practices
• Ensure accurate and quality Investigations of Accident and Incident for root causes identification
• Ensure compliance of regulatory workplace inspections
• Timely and accurate completion of ERT daily, weekly, monthly and yearly report
• Conduct scheduled weekly and monthly ERT meetings
• Maintain Airport safety daily prior, during and post Aircraft Landing as per Standard Operating Procedure
• Maintain accuracy information in Management of Change ( MOC’s ) database
• Participate in review of Standard Operating Procedures 
• Ensure Hazardous Material and Chemical Spillages disposed are mitigated safely as per Policies and Procedures
• Carry out housekeeping activities at the start and end of every shift
• Conduct On job Coaching and weekly Training to ERT members in all aspects of ERT including Fire Fighting, Rope Rescue, Vehicle Rescue, Hazmat Rescue, First Aid and Confined Space Rescue,

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Ordinary Level Secondary Education Certificate
• Certification in Emergency response Management
• Certificate in fire rescue
• Level 3 First Aid Training
• A Valid Tanzanian Driving License
• Formal Training Qualification in Risk Management, Accident Investigations and Occupational Health and Safety

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• 3-5 Years’ Experience in Safety Practice in Mining, Processing or Maintenance disciplines. Underground Mining Experience added as an advantage
• 3-5 Years’ Experience in Emergency Rescue Operations

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Sound knowledge on the requirement of Tanzania rescue act
• Sound knowledge on the Tanzania mining act –OHS requirement.
• Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
• Fluent in use of Taproot and/or I-CAM Investigation systems (I)
• ERT Equipment Operation & Maintenance
• Accident and Incident investigating
• Computer Skills- Fluent in MS Office
• Communication, Fluent written and verbal in English & Swahili
• Sound knowledge of Legislatory Requirements within Mining- OSHAS, Mining Act, Explosives Act, Mines Health and Safety Act, Mining Regulations, ICMI Code, Environmental Laws
