Executive Director (ED)
ADP-Mbozi is a registered National NGO on 10th October 2005 under section 11(3) Act No. 24 of 2002. Originally registered under the Trustees Incorporation Ordinance Cap. 375 on 29th November 1995 with registration number NGO/RI/00367. Since then, the Organization has grown in terms of interventions and coverage. ADP Mbozi aims to be a leader in facilitating socio-economic empowerment of marginalized rural and urban communities in Tanzania through the promotion of food security, entrepreneurship, inclusive markets, gender equality, environmental conservation, and resilience to climate change. It is a result-oriented organization that offers employees opportunities and experiences that are both interesting and challenging. The headquarters of the organization is located in Vwawa town of Mbozi District in Songwe region, but it works with grassroots communities in Katavi, Rukwa, Mbeya, Njombe, and Ruvuma regions. With over 35 years of service, we are entering a new strategic phase and seeking a visionary and results-driven Executive Director (ED) to lead the organization into its next chapter.
Position Overview
The Executive Director will serve as the chief executive officer of ADP Mbozi, responsible for overall leadership, strategic direction, organizational growth, financial sustainability, and staff performance. This is a critical role for a strong leader who can navigate today’s NGO sector challenges including funding limitations, internal capacity development, and youth engagement while building effective partnerships locally and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of ADP Mbozi’s strategic plan and annual work plans.
- Mobilize financial and non-financial resources through grant acquisition, partnerships, and innovative funding mechanisms.
- Strengthen the organization’s internal systems including HR, finance, M&E, and risk management.
- Inspire and manage a multi-generational team with a focus on performance, learning, and professional development.
- Cultivate strong relationships with donors, government agencies, development partners, and local communities.
- Ensure accountability, transparency, and high standards of program delivery
Qualifications and Experience
- A Master’s degree in Development Studies, Public Administration, Business Management, Social Sciences, or related fields.
- Minimum of 10 years' progressive leadership experience in NGO or development settings, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Demonstrated success in resource mobilization, donor engagement, and proposal development.
- Experience leading diverse teams and fostering staff motivation, especially among young professionals.
- Strong financial acumen and ability to manage complex budgets and donor compliance.
- Proven ability to lead organizational transformation, drive innovation, and manage change.
