Exploration Geologist
Araa Resources is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Exploration Geologist to join our geology team focusing on greenfield and brownfield exploration within the Chunya District. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing field exploration programs, ensuring accurate geological data collection, and contributing to the discovery and evaluation of new mineral resources in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee daily field exploration programs, including soil sampling, trenching, and drilling campaigns in the Chunya area.
- Conduct accurate geological, structural, and alteration logging of drill core and RC chips.
- Ensure strict adherence to QA/QC protocols during sample collection, preparation, and dispatch to the laboratory to prevent contamination and ensure data integrity.
- Create and regularly update geological and structural maps of the exploration targets.
- Supervise junior geologists, field assistants, and drilling contractors to ensure operations are conducted safely and to required standards.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret exploration data to assist the Exploration Manager in developing 3D geological models and generating new drill targets.
- Ensure all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and Tanzanian mining regulations are strictly followed on site.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for the exploration management team.
Qualification Requirements
- University degree (BSc) in Geology, Earth Science, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the relevant professional body in Tanzania or eligibility to register.
- Valid Tanzanian Driving Licence with extensive off-road driving experience.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of practical working experience in mineral exploration, particularly in gold or base metal systems.
- Proven experience managing field data and drilling programs (Diamond and Reverse Circulation).
Skills / Knowledge Requirements
- Solid understanding of structural geology and Archean/Proterozoic gold deposit models.
- Proficiency in geographical and geological modeling software (e.g., ArcGIS, MapInfo, Leapfrog, Micromine, or Datamine).
- Strong hazard identification and risk assessment skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Swahili.
- Ability to work in remote environments and adapt to field camp conditions in the Chunya district.
