Health and Safety Officer

Compassion Aid International is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Officer to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. This role is crucial in preventing injuries, accidents, and health-related issues within the organization.

Job Brief

The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for upholding health and safety regulations at Compassion Aid, ensuring a safe workplace for everyone. The primary aim is to prevent injuries, accidents, and health problems. This role requires proficiency in accounting principles, software, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting risk assessments and audits to ensure machinery and equipment are safe and that management systems and working methods comply with current legal standards.
• Explaining regulations concerning occupational health, noise, dust and fumes, fire safety, and the moving and storing of dangerous materials, ensuring all personnel adhere to them.
• Identifying potential dangers and unsafe working methods, and proposing solutions to address them.
• Collaborating with managers, employees, and trade unions to develop policies and implement actions that promote safe working practices and eliminate potential hazards.
• Consulting with the Health and Safety Executive, local authorities, and fire authorities to verify that premises meet current legal health and safety standards.
• Organizing and delivering training courses to encourage and promote safe working practices.
• Maintaining accurate records of accidents, complaints, unsafe procedures or equipment, and any actions taken.
• Testing safety equipment and providing guidance on its proper use.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health, Security, Procurement, Finance, or a related field.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• An enquiring mind.
• Sound judgment.
• Attention to detail.
• A flexible approach to work.

• Willingness to stay updated with changes in the law and technological advancements.

• Ability to explain scientific or technical information in simple terms.

Salary Range

USD 1,900 TO USD 2,100 per month, depending on the level of competency.
