Health and Safety Superintendent (1 Position) - RE-ADVERTISED
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Superintendent to join our team. This is an operational mining role with a duration of 12-24 months, with the potential for extension into ongoing operations for the successful candidate.
About the Role
The HS Superintendent is responsible for the effective implementation of an established Health and Safety (HS) Management System. This ensures that all employees and contractors proactively adhere to safety best practices, in full compliance with company standards, procedures, and Tanzanian regulatory requirements. This role is critical to the operational readiness and ongoing mine operations of the Nyanzaga gold mine.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversee the HS performance of all Perseus departments and contractors, ensuring strict compliance with all regulatory and company-specific safety standards.
- Review and approve contractor HS management plans, procedures, and processes, ensuring alignment with the project's overall safety objectives.
- Manage the fatality risk management program and other vital safety cultural programs, including SHED (Safely Home Every Day).
- Lead incident investigations for all significant safety events, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and comprehensive documentation and communication of corrective actions.
- Monitor and report on contractor and Perseus health and safety performance, providing regular, detailed updates to Management and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in mine site OHS management roles.
- At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory or superintendent position within the mining sector.
