Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. Implement Health Promotion/IEC (Information, Education and Communication) activities with patients and the local population to increase their knowledge and skills on relevant medical topics.
Lead the development, testing and delivery of community health education materials and activities.
Supervise Community Health Worker (CHW) teams.
Ensure effective patient counselling, health talks and digital Health Promotion implementation.
Conduct rapid assessments.
Systematically collect community feedback and rumours.
Encode collected data.
Flag critical issues—including red flags, security concerns and health-seeking behaviour—to project coordination.
Build and maintain strategic relationships with community leaders, partners and other stakeholders.
Work with NGOs, government health services, Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) and other relevant partners.
Lead community meetings.
Maintain updated community mapping.
Oversee CHW community-surveillance activities.
Support active and passive case finding, linkage to care and tracing.
Ensure accurate data collection, encoding and database management.
Coordinate community participation in case-management initiatives.
Provide supervision, training and coaching to CHWs.
Ensure the effective implementation of community case-management activities.
Develop stigma-reduction initiatives.
Establish and support enabling community spaces, including:
Friendly spaces.
Youth clubs.
Health committees.
Anti-stigma campaigns.
Foster supportive environments that encourage positive health-seeking behaviour.
Plan, organise and supervise CHW team activities and meetings.
Collaborate with the HPCE Supervisor.
Ensure effective team performance, coordination and implementation of planned activities.
Organise and oversee health education sessions at health facilities and within the community, including training, supervision and demonstration sessions for Community Health Workers.
Engage the community in Health Promotion with Community Engagement (HP/CE) activities to collect data on pregnant women and children under five.
Use participatory methods such as:
Focus Group Discussions.
Patient Satisfaction and Experience Surveys.
Welcome and Discharge talks.
Celebrations of global and national days.
Parents’ meetings in schools.
Identify key actors within the community, including local authorities, village committees, local NGOs, traditional healers and community focal persons within the catchment area.
Organise, train and supervise the Health Promotion team in planning and organising its work.
Provide support, evaluation and coaching to the Health Promotion team.
Collect reports and update tracing, defaulters and referrals through regular visits to communities and health facilities.
Provide supportive supervision to the iCCM implementer to ensure:
Quality iCCM service delivery.
Timely referrals.
Community engagement adapted to pastoralist contexts.
Hold regular meetings with Ministry of Health staff and health-facility in-charges in accordance with the monthly plan.
Conduct visits with the Ministry of Health Community Coordinator to health facilities and villages.
Support the recruitment of CHWs in accordance with the applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
Ensure the cleanliness of Information, Education and Communication areas.
Translate Information, Education and Communication materials into local languages.
Collect and report to the IECHP Manager any information related to the health situation of patients and the wider population, including:
Lost-to-follow-up cases.
Rumours.
Outbreaks.
Other relevant health information.
Identify gaps, challenges and potential improvements.
Report identified issues to the IECHP Manager to support the smooth implementation of Health Promotion with Community Engagement activities at health facilities and within the community.
A Bachelor’s diploma in one of the following fields:
Social sciences.
Social work.
Behavioural sciences.
Public health.
Community health.
Nursing.
Teaching.
Previous experience in teaching, nursing, social work or community mobilisation is preferred.
Good spoken and written English and Kiswahili are essential.
Essential computer literacy, including:
Microsoft Word.
Microsoft Excel.
Internet use.
Results.

Stress management.
Residents of Liwale will be given priority for consideration.
