Position: Helper Mechanic

Reporting To: Irrigation Development Manager

Job Summary Statement

We are seeking a skilled, motivated young Tanzanian with Fitter Mechanic level 1 or relevant qualification from VETA or any other institution recognized by NACTE to fill the position of helper mechanic at Irrigation service section within TPC LTD.

Key Performance Areas (Duties & Responsibilities)

• Assisting mechanic in performing daily preventive pump maintenance on all irrigation pump within TPC estate.
• Collaborate with mechanics in attending all mechanical pump breakdown that may occur within TPC estate.
• Ensure working environment at irrigation workshop and site are clean and tidy before start working.
• Follow work procedure and ensure safety among workers and use of proper PPE during working.
• Performing any other responsibility as assigned by your supervisor.

Academic Qualifications

Fitter mechanic level 1, fitting and turning level 1 or relevant qualification from VETA or any other recognized institution by NACTE.

Work Experience

1 to 2 years working experience on surface casing, submersible and vertical turbine pump (preferably on sugar estate) would be a significant advantage.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Excellent communication both in English and Swahili and interpersonal skills (listening skills, verbal communication etc).
• High level of integrity, honesty and accountability
• Teamwork
• Time management
• Able to use mechanical tools and handling it in a proper manner.

• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work, capable of working odd hours as needed.
