Position: Jumbo Operator

Location: Geita Gold Mine, Geita Position Purpose: The Jumbo Operator will be responsible for executing underground development and production tasks, including stripping, ground support, and other mining-related duties as directed by the Underground Shift Supervisor and trainer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Adherence to all HS&E policies, procedures, and instructions, including the proper use of safety devices and protective equipment.
• Prompt reporting of any hazardous situations that cannot be immediately corrected and implementing necessary changes to control or eliminate hazards.
• Immediate reporting of any accidents or injuries sustained during work.
• Compliance with relevant Mines Safety Acts and Regulations.
• Exercising reasonable care for personal safety and the safety of others.
• Performing pre-start checks and SWICs (Safe Work Instruction Checks).
• Accurately drilling drive drill patterns using a mechanized electric/hydraulic Jumbo drill, suitable for ground conditions and in compliance with site-specific drill patterns and survey instructions.
• Assessing ground conditions at the face and implementing appropriate ground control measures according to site requirements.
• Reading and accurately following mining instruction plans with skill and precision, ensuring holes are drilled to design line, gradient, and profile.
• Effective communication with surveyors, geologists, and engineers as required.
• Optimizing drill patterns to maximize advance per round while strictly adhering to design specifications and minimizing overbreak.
• Ensuring the work area is safe for personnel and equipment, including verifying that electrical installations and services are clear of the drilling area.

Essential Requirements:

• A demonstrated passion for safety and a proactive approach to prioritizing safety for all employees at all times.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Underground Mining Industry.
• Knowledge of Underground Mining Practices and the efficient operation of an Underground Jumbo.
• A Tanzanian Driver’s License and good driving skills.
• Basic first aid knowledge.
• Completion of secondary school.
