Mechanical Engineer (On-Site - 3 Positions)
About the Role
HR World Limited, on behalf of our client, is seeking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Engineer to oversee generator maintenance activities, drive equipment reliability, support operational efficiency, and ensure the safe and effective operation of large Caterpillar generator systems within a continuous 24/7 power generation environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Preventive Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM), Corrective Maintenance, and Minor and Major Repairs on generator systems.
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are strictly followed during all maintenance and repair activities.
- Lead generator system diagnosis and provide technical guidance for maintenance and repair interventions.
- Drive reliability improvement initiatives, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and failure prevention strategies.
- Lead performance data analysis and provide condition monitoring inputs to the CMA.
- Monitor generator performance, alarms, and system malfunctions and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Continuously monitor generator SMU readings and communicate PM and maintenance requirements.
- Support load control and optimization to ensure efficient and reliable generator operation.
- Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.
- Ensure maintenance records, reports, and operational documentation are accurately maintained.
- Provide technical leadership and support to site maintenance personnel.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with site operational and maintenance standards.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Power/Energy Engineering.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience working with large Caterpillar generators or in power generation facilities operating in a continuous 24/7 environment.
- Mandatory professional and proficient knowledge of Caterpillar large generator systems.
- Proven experience in generator system operation, diagnosis, minor repairs, and major repairs.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Experience in reliability improvement programs, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and condition monitoring practices.
- Strong understanding of generator maintenance planning and execution.
- Very good command of written and spoken English.
- Very good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively in a demanding operational environment while maintaining high standards of safety and performance.
