Position Summary
IHI is looking for a Motor Vehicle Mechanic to fill a vacant position in our workshop in the Bagamoyo branch. S/he must be specialized in servicing and repairing all motor vehicle systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that the particular institution garage and its fleet is well maintained at a high standard, with strict adherence to relevant institutional policies, guidelines, rules, and regulations.
- Ensure all institutional vehicles and Motorcycles are well serviced at the right time, right intervals and at high standards as per vehicle/cycle manufactures specifications.
- Conduct inspection of motor vehicles and motor cycles brought at the garage by identifying reported faults as well as other unreported problems/faults and rectify them.
- Upon completion of service of assigned vehicle or motorcycle must report to supervisor for a road test of serviced vehicle/cycle before authorizing hand over of vehicle/cycle to the end-user.
- Ensure all spare parts issued during maintenance/repairs are fixed in vehicles and motorcycles as requested/recommended in a professional way.
- Ensure records of service done are properly recorded and updated as reference records.
- Use tools available at the garage in diagnosing and identify electrical and mechanical faults
- Ensure maintenance records for repairs/maintenance carried out at the institutional garage are captured and reported to the line manager.
- Ensure the Institution’s fleet operates at optimal cost without compromising the quality of the service provided at the garage.
- Ensure workshop tolls and working area is always tidy and free from oiling and greasing contamination.
- Perform any other duties assigned by immediate supervisor.
Qualification and Experience
- Must have completed at least an Ordinary Level of Secondary Education (Form Four).
- Must be a motor vehicle mechanic Technician with knowledge of Trade Test Grade I or II certificates from VETA.
- Three year and above work experience as Mechanic in a reputable garage or company in General Mechanics Work and Auto Mechanics.
Skills and Competencies
- Be able to rectify electric faults in various vehicle models like; Toyota, Nissan, Ford Ranger, Freelander, and Suzuki.
- Must be conversant with all mechanical and electrical issues to common vehicles models e.g. TOYOTA L/C HARD TOP, NISSAN, SUZUKI, FREELANDER, and FORD-RANGER.
- Must be computer literate, with basic knowledge in Microsoft Office applications.
- Must demonstrate high integrity in his/her area of responsibility.
- Competence at work and high capacity in reasoning when facing Pressure in Technical problems.
- Team player.
- Must be conversant with basic forms.
- Must be able to speak and read Swahili and English language.
- Must be good in keeping records of any work done or spare part fixed in Motor vehicles / Motor Cycles at the garage.
