DIGNITY Kwanza is a non-governmental organization registered in Tanzania that aims to safeguard and promote the human dignity of people affected by displacement, people at risk of statelessness, and vulnerable women, children, and youth to attain their social and economic development. Through its integrated approach that combines advocacy, legal aid, and community empowerment and support, DIGNITY Kwanza contributes to the creation of conditions and opportunities for its population of concern to enjoy rights, live with dignity, attain social and economic growth, and participate in the search for lasting solutions to their needs and the overall nation-building. Dignity Kwanza is currently implementing a Child Protection Program in Nyarugusu Refugee Camp, Kasulu District, Kigoma Region, Tanzania. The program focuses on strengthening child protection systems, providing case management services for at-risk children, supporting birth registration, and enhancing community-based protection mechanisms to ensure children's safety and well-being.

Position: Protection Assistant - Case Management

Reporting Line: Child Protection Coordinator

Duty Station: Nyarugusu Refugee Camp, Kasulu District, Kigoma Region, Tanzania

Overall purpose of the role:

Under the direct supervision of the Child Protection Coordinator, the Protection Assistant – Case Management supports the delivery of child protection case management services for children at risk.

Main Responsibilities:

• Identify, register, and assess children at risk, including unaccompanied and separated children (UASC).
• Provide child case management services in line with Child Protection Minimum Standards (CPMS) and inter-agency SOPs.
• Develop and implement individual case plans, including referrals to relevant services (health, education, psychosocial support, legal).
• Conduct regular follow-up visits to monitor child's well-being and the progress of interventions.
• Prepare case files and documentation for case conferencing and Best Interest Procedures (BIA/BID) as required.
• Maintain accurate and confidential case records using approved systems (e.g., CPIMS+).
• Facilitate timely referrals and ensure coordination with service providers.
• Track referred cases and follow up to ensure services are accessed.
• Work closely with community structures to strengthen identification and reporting of cases.
• Support awareness-raising activities on child protection, safeguarding, and reporting mechanisms.
• Engage with caregivers and community members to promote prevention and early identification of protection risks.
• Contribute to weekly and monthly case management reports.
• Support data collection and ensure proper documentation in line with data protection protocols.
• Highlight challenges, gaps, and trends observed in case management.
• Uphold child safeguarding principles and confidentiality at all times.
• Ensure adherence to PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) and organizational Code of Conduct.
• Immediately report any safeguarding concerns or breaches.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Law, Development Studies, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in child protection, case management, or social work in humanitarian or development settings.
• Experience working in refugee camps or similar contexts is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of child protection principles, CPMS, and Best Interest Procedures (BIA/BID).
• Experience using case management tools or databases (e.g., CPIMS+) is an added advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Swahili required.

Hours and Location of Work:

The Protection Assistant - Case Management will be based in Nyarugusu Refugee Camp, Kasulu District, Kigoma Region, Tanzania. The candidate should be able to work at least 40 hours per week (Full-time).
