Job Description: Specific Responsibilities
- To supervise and monitor the daily activities of the Relationship Officers.
- Lead and supervise the group lending team in conducting accurate marketing and promotion of VFT products.
- Visit and verify all newly formed groups and clients before approval.
- Monitor field activities by visiting groups and clients.
- Conduct follow-up visits with existing clients according to the monitoring schedule.
- Handle client complaints promptly and ensure timely resolution.
- Drive branch performance through assigned staff to achieve targets for Saving, Insurance, and Loan related activities (disbursement, portfolio growth, portfolio quality, and number of clients).
- Support and oversee loan disbursement to ensure compliance with VFT procedures.
- Hold group lending team meetings to review performance and provide timely coaching.
- Maintain strong portfolio quality through close monitoring and proactive risk management.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations of the Relationship Officers, and recommend any promotion or termination to the Business Center/Branch Manager and/or Regional Manager.
- Ensure 100% on-time collection or enforce “zero tolerance against missed loan payments.”
- Perform other tasks as may be prescribed by the Supervisor or Management.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff Recruitment and Training (20%)
- Identify staff needs based on business case and market potential.
- Plan & coordinate recruitments in collaboration with BCMs/RMs and P&C where needed.
- Identify training needs for different cadres of Relationship Officers.
- Coach, encourage, and mentor Relationship Officers.
- Plan & coordinate trainings in collaboration with P&C for Relationship Officers.
- Spot emerging talents from the team for higher positions.
Monitoring (40%)
- Monitor Relationship Officers' performance on a daily basis.
- Monitor the performance of Savings, Insurance, and loans offered to clients.
- Take timely corrective measures to address any deviation from the standards of implementation and performance of all loan products and other financial services.
- Validate information received from Relationship Officers regarding default payments, business activity, and other issues concerning the business.
Coordination (20%)
- Work with Business Center Managers/Regional Managers in developing and implementing an expansion and market penetration program, including new products and expansion into new areas, and in identifying new business opportunities.
- Develop a roll-out and/or scaling-up plan which includes location, staffing plan, required budget, and projections.
- Oversee/implement the recruitment/hiring/onboarding of Relationship Officers in collaboration with BCMs and P&C.
- Liaise with IT to set up necessary technology and platforms for loan processing and monitoring.
- Support Relationship Officers in building a pipeline of potential borrowers.
- Support management in putting forward cases for scaling up business and products.
- Ensure all required documents for loans are correct and sent to the Credit Hub for approval.
Reporting (10%)
- Ensure proper reporting of loans in the core banking system.
- Prepare performance reports and analytics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis and share with stakeholders.
- Take remedial actions based on analytics and share with stakeholders.
Market Surveys and Lessons Learned (10%)
- Coordinate and support impact surveys as needed.
- Collect and share lessons learned with other stakeholders of the bank's business.
- Achieve desired social impact, including the number of children impacted, number of women, and coverage.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Requirements to Qualify for the Position:
List academic, technical skills, or other knowledge required as a minimum qualification for this position.
- University Degree/Diploma in Economics, Rural Development, Agri-Finance, Accounting, Community Development, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Minimum of 2 years’ sales and credit management with at least 1 year of experience in training and coaching teams.
- Extensive expertise in statutory and regulatory frameworks governing banking practices with advanced knowledge of lending practices as well as the design and administration of the bank's products and services.
- Very good communication, people management, and marketing skills.
- Very good analytical skills (including the use of Excel in analyzing data and reporting).
