About the Community Partnerships for Respectful Care (CPRC) Project:
The Americares Community Partnerships for Respectful Care (CPRC) is a 5-year project (2020-2025) funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) with the aim to contribute to reducing mortality and morbidity among mothers and their children through improved community-based health care. The USAID CPRC project (USAID Uzazi Staha in Swahili) provides strategic technical assistance at the national, regional and council levels to improve the quality and uptake of RMNCAH+FP and nutrition services, as well as strengthen respectful maternity care (RMC) in Tanzania. Americares Tanzania works with Christian Social Services Commission (CSSC) in the implementation of the USAID CPRC project in the Mwanza Region.
Job Description:
Americares through USAID Uzazi Staha project seeks to recruit 10 enumerators for a short-term assignment to carry out quantitative and qualitative data collection midline evaluation survey. The data collection exercise is expected to be conducted for 12 days between late March and mid-April 2023 and will include health care providers at supported facilities, women recently delivered (as per project definition) and selected male partners. A day training exercise shall also be conducted in Mwanza, followed by a day field pre-test of the study tools prior to the actual data collection.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the study goals and objectives; Attend training workshops and pre-testing of the study tools.
- Conduct selection, screening, consenting, and enrolment processes of respondents according to the project procedures and ethical guidelines.
- Conduct face-to-face interviews with respondents using PDA/mobile devices; Accurately capture and record responses from respondents; and check responses for completeness, correctness, and consistency.
- Conduct facility assessment using WHO Quality of care tools. Record responses through notetaking, using prescribed note-taker forms and summarize the findings immediately after the observation.
- Report progress, problems, and needs regularly to the field supervisor.
- Comply with all regulations necessary for conducting a successful interview, including adherence to existing Child Protection Regulations, Health Care Safety, Prevention and Control measures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in Nursing & Midwifery, Community Development, Statistics, Monitoring & Evaluation or any relevant discipline from a recognized institution. Additional training and knowledge of public health, clinical and epidemiology principles will be an advantage;
- 1-3 years of experience in conducting household and socio-economic surveys on sensitive topics for research purposes preferably in public health or clinical services.
- Experience conducting interviews with vulnerable populations including persons with disabilities, women, men and girls and health care providers
- Demonstrated experience in qualitative & quantitative data collection processes (including planning, organizing, conducting interviews, cleaning and encoding data); demonstration of good interviewing & data entry skills using mobile devices for field data collection
- Extensive experience in qualitative data recording and a demonstration of skilled interviewing, expert notetaking, high-quality transcription, and translation.
- Proficiency in Office 365 including Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, knowledge of any quantitative and qualitative statistical package will be an added advantage (e.g. CommCare, SPSS and Nvivo).
- Knowledge of societal norms and culture in the study regions, and familiarity with Local Government Authorities' structures, functions and operations.
- Excellent English-language speaking and writing skills, Kiswahili and local language of the respective study region where data shall be collected.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
- Strong organizational skills, capacity to think strategically and attention to detail.
- Project management experience will be an added advantage.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in Tanzania.
