Maternity Africa is a Christian-based, charitable, non-governmental organization registered in Tanzania. The organization is devoted to making childbirth safe by providing access to good maternity services and treatment for obstetric fistulae and other birth-related injuries. Maternity Africa serves the poorest and most vulnerable women by providing free, quality reproductive health care. All programmes are developed to positively impact the health and wellbeing of mothers and children by minimizing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. The Position

Maternity Africa is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, passionate and results-oriented individual with strong attention to detail and deadlines. The successful candidate will manage and oversee Human Resources management at Maternity Africa, based at Kivulini Maternity Centre in Arusha. The Senior Human Resources Manager will be expected to provide technical leadership in Human Resources functions, lead and manage the implementation of the organization’s Human Resources strategic plan, and bring excellence, insight and proven leadership experience, especially within health care institutions.

The role will oversee more than 85 staff, with possible growth in employee numbers following the expansion of the organization. The position will also handle immigration and labour law technicalities related to a small team of international volunteers.

The Senior Human Resources Manager will report to the Country Director and will be accountable for delivering the organization’s Human Resources strategic direction and goals.

Management

The Senior Human Resources Manager will promote an organizational culture and ethos that reflects the values of Maternity Africa and fosters integrity, professional excellence and superior performance. Human Resource Management

The role will facilitate the process of attracting, motivating and retaining the highest quality staff while promoting a culture of continuous learning. The Senior Human Resources Manager will ensure that robust Human Resources policies and practices are designed, implemented and upheld. The role will also proactively support the development of the Human Resources strategy, with a focus on continuous improvement and compliance.

Recruitment, Orientation and Staff Exit

The position will facilitate effective, competitive and fair recruitment processes. This includes efficiently completing:

Implementation of Tanzania Labour and Immigration Laws, Disputes and Disciplinary Issues

The role will provide guidance, translation, advice and implementation of activities in line with Tanzania labour and immigration laws. The Senior Human Resources Manager will be responsible for legally and comprehensively handling and resolving conflicts, disputes and disciplinary issues. The role will also advise and guide management on:

Human Resource Records Management and Reporting

The position will provide periodic reports for departmental use, line managers, management and the board of directors as necessary or requested. These reports will help track trends and metrics for proper planning and strategic goal achievement.

Management of the Human Resources Information System

The Senior Human Resources Manager will ensure that the Human Resources database system is accurately and appropriately updated and used in a timely and confidential manner. This includes:
