What is the opportunity?
Under the Finance Manager’s supervision, the Senior Supply Chain Officer oversees the supply chain management functions across the country, following established standards and procedures. This position will be based in Dodoma. This position requires the ability to lead the team and plan, organize, and coordinate assigned activities related to the office.
As an employee in Water Mission, the Senior Supply Chain Officer is responsible for developing a biblical worldview culture that leads to God-honoring excellence in all work and commits to providing the following: accurate data, developing the skills and mindset needed to acknowledge mistakes or problems as opportunities to find appropriate solutions and work consistently for excellence in solutions that are consistent with Water Mission’s mission, vision, values, and standards.
A successful Senior Supply Chain Officer will:
- Promote, encourage, and model Water Mission’s mission, vision, and values to the technical team members and all other staff members.
- Team Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the supply chain team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning in a biblical worldview.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic initiatives to optimize the supply chain process, aligning with established policies and procedures.
- Procurement Management: Implement established procurement policies and procedures, oversee procurement activities, including vendor selection, vendor pre-qualification, negotiation, ordering, and contract management, to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of goods and services.
- Inventory Management: Develop or implement established inventory control strategies to optimize inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and ensure proper management of inventory movement which includes all activities of transferring inventory, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, shipping, and replenishing.
- Logistics and Distribution: Manage logistics operations, including vehicles, warehousing, and distribution of materials, to ensure efficient and timely delivery of service or materials to where are needed while minimizing transportation costs and lead times.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and service providers to ensure reliable and consistent supply, ensure they adhere to PSEA policy, resolve issues promptly, and drive continuous improvement.
- Training and compliance: Conduct regular training for the supply chain team and other staff for established policies and procedures and ensure they follow them, standardize the best practice supply chain process in all WM country offices, and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Risk Management: Identify and communicate potential risks and vulnerabilities in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions.
What is required?
- Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
- Fluent in English and Swahili.
- Proven experience of five years in supply chain management, with a focus on procurement, logistics, and inventory management.
- Knowledge of industry best practices, regulations, and standards related to supply chain management and logistics.
- Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
- Zero tolerance towards corruption, encompassing all forms of conflicts of interest, bribery, fraud, and any other manifestations of corrupt behavior.
- Excellent relationship and conflict resolution skills.
- Skills with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint) and Proficiency in supply chain management software and tools, such as ERP systems and inventory management systems.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, procurement and Logistics, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification is a plus.
- Impeccable level of integrity in handling the supply Chain.
