Job Overview
Justdiggit is seeking a passionate and experienced Social and Behaviour Change Communication Coordinator to join our team in Arusha, Tanzania. This role is crucial for supporting grassroots communication and awareness-building efforts for landscape restoration initiatives. You will play a key part in developing and implementing effective rural communication strategies, fostering strong collaborations with landscape teams, partners, and media to enhance community engagement and highlight the impact of restoration work.
This position is an integral part of Justdiggit’s expanding program in Tanzania, contributing to our mission of scaling the regreening movement across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Key Responsibilities
1. Social and Behaviour Change Communication and Visibility
- Develop a comprehensive grassroots communication plan for all projects in Tanzania.
- Collaborate with Landscape Coordinators and Managers to schedule upcoming communication activities and associated research.
- Identify and implement the most effective rural communication techniques.
- Provide guidance and support for all filming and production activities, whether conducted by Justdiggit or media partners.
- Ensure seamless internal communication flow between Justdiggit offices.
- Maintain strategic alignment with Justdiggit’s Social Behaviour Change Communication expert.
- Execute planned communication activities according to timelines and stakeholder agreements, including movie roadshows, SMS services, and radio programs.
2. Digital Communication & Regreening Support
- Manage and oversee the national budget for rural communications.
- Conduct field visits to gather insights that can refine Justdiggit’s communication strategy.
- Contribute to both internal and external reporting processes.
- Collaborate closely with the Scaling team to ensure adequate Digital Regreening support for projects.
3. Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage projects, including stakeholder expectations with funders and implementation partners.
- Foster strong working relationships with implementation and media partners.
- Identify and onboard new media partners to enhance project visibility.
- Work closely with landscape teams and partners to raise awareness about our landscapes and the positive impact we are achieving.
Required Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Environmental Communication, Development Studies, Sustainable Land Management, Forestry, Agriculture, or a related field.
- 3–4 years of relevant experience, with a strong background in landscape restoration and Social and Behaviour Change Communication.
- Demonstrated passion for sustainability, landscape restoration, and environmental or agricultural development.
- Proven ability to manage diverse stakeholders effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work autonomously.
- Experience in planning, producing, and executing various rural communication techniques and methods.
- A talent for structuring projects and communication with partners.
- Independent and proactive, with experience collaborating remotely with colleagues.
- Strong problem-solving and coordination skills.
- Fluency in both English and Kiswahili is essential.
