Job Position: Stakeholder Engagement & Social Studies Coordinator
Job Description
Qualification required: Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
Minimum experience: A minimum of 15 years of professional including experience in the O&G industry and social development including liaising with industry stakeholders.
Accountabilities: Responsible to ensure good relationships with stakeholders are developed and maintained. S-he make sure that all levels of stakeholders are appropriately informed of organization policies, operational activities, and other project activities.
Responsibilities:
Stakeholder Engagement (SE)
Responsible for shaping, defining, and implementing the Project Stakeholder Engagement Strategy.
Manages and participates in the development of the Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP) for the pre-construction and construction periods.
Ensures the implementation of the Stakeholder Engagement Plan.
Ensures local authorities, communities and civil society including NGOs are engaged with and consulted on Project status and activities.
Ensures consistency of messaging at the local authority and community level.
Oversees the management and responses to community concerns, questions, expectations, and grievances. Ensures societal risks are identified by the field team, reported and registered in the social risk register.
Supervises the development and maintenance of an updated stakeholder mapping in liaison with other Project teams and contractors.
Supervises the production and distribution of appropriate disclosure materials, including alternative methods to communicate effectively with specific stakeholders (e.g., local communities) in coordination with the Communication team.
Validates and monitor the Stakeholder Engagement Plan of geo-surveys and other contractors.
Coordinates with the Land teams to provide support if required.
Social Studies
Monitors stakeholder engagement being undertaken as part of the ESIA and other social studies.
Assists and facilitates field surveys and studies related to ESIA and other social studies.
Identifies the need for any specific social studies and defines the scope
Acts as Company Representative for social studies during their execution
Reviews and comments on social studies reports.
Team management
Recruits and manages Stakeholder Engagement teams.
Responsible for developing an overall Stakeholder engagement planning for the team in line with the SEP
Ensures field team is providing work plans every 6 months in line with the SEP. updated on a weekly basis.
Leads, mentors, coaches and manages SE team, participates to the training of SE team and regular coaching sessions in the field.
Reporting
Ensures that a track record of all stakeholder engagements, stakeholder concerns and expectations, stakeholder grievances, social risks, is maintained and commitments respected.
Reports weekly to the Land and Social Manager on stakeholder engagement and social studies progress against schedule and objectives.
Provides relevant information to organization Land and Social Manager on emerging risks to organization Project image, staff, and assets.
Requirements:
Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to develop and maintain good relations with a wide range of stakeholders. Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Negotiation, conflict management skills.
Good Computer skills; report writing and analytical skills.
