Tax Officer

HR World Ltd on behalf of our client, we are looking for a Tax Officer who will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with tax laws and regulations while optimizing tax liabilities and supporting the company’s financial operations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of statutory tax returns and payments for both Mainland and Zanzibar (including VAT, Withholding Tax, PAYE, SDL, Stamp Duty, City Service Levy, Premium Levy, etc.).
- Monitor and interpret changes in local tax laws to ensure continued compliance.
- Manage inquiries, audits, and assessments from tax and regulatory authorities.
- Advise management on tax implications of business operations and initiatives.
- Reconcile tax accounts with the general ledger and assist in tax provisions and disclosures in financial statements.
- Support internal and external audits related to tax and compliance matters.
- Maintain complete and organized documentation for all tax filings and related transactions.
- Liaise with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory bodies as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or Commerce.
- CPA (T), ACCA, or other relevant professional qualification is highly desirable.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in taxation or audit, preferably within the insurance, banking, or financial services sector.
- Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Sage.
- Strong understanding of Tanzania tax laws and financial regulations, particularly those affecting the insurance industry.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
