Job Description
The purpose of the role is to train and develop employees in manufacturing and Engineering, in line with organisational requirements effectively and proactively.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Technical Training Delivery
- Deliver hands-on technical training on manufacturing equipment, automation systems, process control, and maintenance procedures.
- Apply blended and experiential learning techniques (visual aids, simulations, SOPs, manuals, on-the-job coaching).
- Assess technical competence through practical demonstrations, fault-finding exercises, and operational simulations.
- Reinforce safe work practices, quality standards, and operational discipline during all training activities.
Training Coordination and Planning
- Develop and implement technical training plans in collaboration with line managers and production teams.
- Schedule training to align with production plans and minimize downtime.
- Coordinate onboarding and apprenticeship technical training programs.
- Manage technical training costs within approved budgets.
Curriculum Development and Compliance
- Design, review, and update technical training modules aligned to OEM manuals, plant SOPs, and safety requirements.
- Ensure all training interventions meet internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements.
- Develop and administer written and practical assessments to validate technical proficiency.
- Support audit readiness through standardized training documentation.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Track trainee progress and competency development using defined assessment criteria.
- Identify technical skill gaps and recommend corrective training interventions.
- Prepare periodic training effectiveness reports (monthly, quarterly, annually).
Continuous Improvement and Knowledge Integration
- Participate in OEM training, technical forums, and industry workshops.
- Integrate new equipment, technologies, and best practices into training programs.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, SCW, and continuous improvement initiatives through targeted skills development.
- Share technical knowledge and lessons learned across teams.
- Maintain accurate training records in line with audit and governance requirements.
Skills, Experience & Education
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Added advantage: Diploma or experience in Packaging.
- Minimum 5 years in technical training or maintenance within FMCG/manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of production equipment, automation systems, and safety protocols.
- Equipment troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Understanding of PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and OEM manuals.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, SCW, and continuous improvement tools.
