Mwananchi Communications Limited, publishers of the leading Tanzania newspapers, Mwananchi, Mwanaspoti and The Citizen is looking for a motivated and highly experienced individual to fill the position of:

TRANSPORTER OPERATIONS ASSISTANT (1 POST)

Job Purpose:

The job holder is responsible for recording all the transport parcels and ensures delivery of all the parcels to the respective destinations.

Main Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key result areas:

• Receives and records customers’ inquiries.
• Ensure full compliance & enforcement of the Transport service contract.
• Coordinate with the transport supervisor on the vehicles & drivers to ensure smooth delivery of the consignments to all the planned routes.
• Ensure every parcel is measured/weighed & correctly recorded.
• Prepare manifest for all parcels & hand over the parcels & PODs to drivers per route
• Collects and prepares transport waybills as appropriate.
• Ensure 100% documentation of consignments in & delivery notes for all consignments.
• Sort parcels and prepare manifests/delivery notes prior to handing over to the drivers.
• Ensure drivers hand over parcels with documentation to our agents.
• Ensure all documents/parcels are delivered or collected within 24 hours of receipt/collection.
• Carry out investigation of loss, delays, and damage of parcels as necessary.
• Review internal capacity & advise which clients to pursue/drop to maximize on revenues.
• Ensure all documentation is handed over to Finance for billing.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• University Degree in Logistic Management.
• 3 years working experience.
• Excellent communication skills and computer knowledge.
• Experience in a transport or courier business is an added advantage
• Driving motorcycle and a valid driving license is an added advantage
• A pleasant personality, team player, and problem-solving skills are highly valued.
• Technical skills
• Report writing skills; and
• Numeric skills.
