Position Summary
Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a qualified safety-conscious Electrician to be stationed at Ifakara Branch. The Intern will maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and safety standards. Work on a variety of projects from troubleshooting complex electrical faults to upgrading systems for improved efficiency while collaborating closely with other technicians and project teams. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship that keeps our facilities and clients connected, safe, and productive. Responsibilities

Ensure availability of water in offices, rest houses, and staff houses.
Ensure the routine service for air conditioners, refrigerators, and freezers in the office, laboratories, rest houses, and staff houses.
Maintain generators by ensuring refueling, keeping records of generator hours used for service and maintenance.
Prepare reports of any defects and request the materials needed for repairs.
Proper maintenance of records and documentation.
Quality and accuracy of electrical installations and repairs.
Ensure availability of electricity in offices, rest houses, and staff houses.
Compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.


Skills
Desired Skills

Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.


Qualifications Required
Essential Qualifications

Certificate, Diploma in Electrical Installation or a related field.


Experience
Desired Experience

At least 1 year of experience in electrical installation and maintenance.


Preferred Language Skill

Good communication (English & Swahili) and teamwork abilities.
