Operations Manager

We are assisting a sustainable, socially responsible forestry and timber products business with plantations in Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania.

They are looking for an Operations & Sales Manager to join their team.

95% Operations and 5% Sales Management (approx.)

• Long-term planning to ensure efficiency in the utilization of all resources and assets to meet the needs of customers and realize profit margins.
• Manage an effective and cost-efficient quality treatment and logistics process from end to end.
• Implement and maintain ISO 9001 Accreditation and maintenance on site.
• In conjunction with the Country CEO, be actively involved in the influencing of Manufacturing/processing standards/regulations of poles in the region and amongst clients.
• Financial management of annual budgets, operating expenses, and capital expenditure, as well as the day to day operating of the plant.
• Liaise and manage 3rd party suppliers to ensure high quality and the cost-effective raw material is delivered to the operation/plant.
• Drive the procurement process of all raw materials according to the group’s procurement policies and procedures, and continually identify more effective and cost-efficient ways of procuring stock.
• Work with the CSR team to manage the relationships with all neighboring communities impacted by the operation, ensuring good relations and mitigation of any potential risk factors.
• Work closely with the Country CEO to support all marketing and sales efforts for the production/processing of products.
• Participate in the preparation of tender documents for current or new clients.
• Manage and plan for new initiatives i.e. diversification of products and markets.
• People: Full Pole Plant operation, technical and administrative staff.
• Assets: All capex on the pole plant

Experience required:-

• Essential experience– Qualified in wood technology | Forestry | applicable science
• A business management qualification will be an advantage
• At least 5-10 years in an operations/processing capacity
• Preferably 5 years in a sole leadership position.
