Responsibilities

• Ensure safe work practice i.e. attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies.
• Coordinate both production and development deliverables while simultaneously facilitating the upskilling and professional growth of the workforce through training and development of the Supervisors.
• Implement the standards for the Underground Mining Department for the projects and be accountable for the standards being met for all outputs.
• Embody and foster the company police and values to all employees.
• Execute the daily plan and report all delays or deviations from the plan immediately, including the necessary recovery action.
• Plan all work in a safe and efficient manner to always maximize face activity.
• Provide the leadership and motivation necessary to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to all policies, standards and procedures during the execution of their duties.
• Ensure all areas of the operational department are conducting themselves in line with the company policies and ensure a safe working environment for employees.
• Create a working environment that ensures that employees gain new skills and achieve their full potential by developing and implementing effective training and mentoring programmers.
• Effectively communicate with relevant stakeholders and provide feedback and other information as required on heading status and other areas of interest.
• Demonstrate the ability to operate all mining equipment applicable to the mine in a high-speed manner.
• Coordinate detailed Execution Plans for all projects and be accountable for the efficient and effective application of the plan to ensure the timely completion of project work.
• Liaise with the Engineering personnel to ensure production.
• Prepare regular reports regarding production work progress as required.
• Promote the systems for upskill and training for subordinate/team members are in place.

Qualification Requirements

Qualification in Mining or similar technical qualification that is supported by practical work experience in mining.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Production Training
• Experience in large underground mining operations
• Previous trainer experience is a must and will be discussed with potential short list candidates as to their exposure

Skills / Knowledge Requirements

• Knowledge of mentoring employees from diverse backgrounds
• Adequate skillset to operate all underground machines for training purposes
• Exposure to automation within the underground environment
• Thorough knowledge of modern trackless mechanised mining production and development methodologies including automation

About the Team

Bulyanhulu is situated in north-west Tanzania, in the Kahama district of the Shinyanga region, approximately 55 kilometres south of Lake Victoria and 150 kilometres southwest of the city of Mwanza. Bulyanhulu is a narrow-vein gold mine containing gold, silver and copper mineralisation in sulphides. The mineralisation of Bulyanhulu is associated with a number of steeply-dipping veins. Bulyanhulu commenced commercial production in 2001.
