This is an excellent opportunity for a professional looking to contribute to an international environment.Position DetailsJob Title: Accountant (m/f/x)Organization: Embassy of Belgium in TanzaniaLocation: Dar es Salaam, TanzaniaStart Date: Mid-August 2026Application Deadline: 20 May 2026The OfferThe Embassy offers a rewarding package including:A varied and responsible role within a pleasant international setting.A full-time contract for one year, with potential for renewal.Working hours of 37 hours per week.A six-month trial period.Gross salary of TZS 4,125,240 per month for candidates with two years of experience (actual salary will vary based on experience).End-of-year bonus.Contributions to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).Assistance with the Tanzanian work permit application for non-Tanzanian citizens.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAccounting OperationsThe Accountant will manage various accounting tasks, including:Collecting and providing necessary financial information and documents.Encoding and updating data in accounting systems.Preparing financial documents such as remuneration receipts, bonus tables, and promotion calculations according to schedule.Planning and managing budgets, including previews, reviews, and monthly evolutions.Processing payments.Liaising with banks and other third parties on accounting matters.Archiving accounting items and documents.Monitoring consular revenues.Assisting with contract renegotiations under the supervision of the Head of Administration.Reviewing invoices, disbursement statements, and receipts.Transmitting local communications relevant to budget management, including social contributions and VAT.Ensuring adherence to accounting standards and principles.Assessing budgetary and accounting documents for accuracy.Monitoring cash and bank balances.Identifying potential financial issues like overspending or liquidity shortfalls.Consulting and harmonizing data across various databases.Logistics Management OperationsSupport will be provided for logistics management related to buildings, vehicles, and services, including:Listing work, supply, and service needs.Prioritizing tasks based on urgency and budget.Drafting specifications for works, equipment, and services.Monitoring public contracts, including tender analysis and attribution reports.Writing order forms and following up on services.Contributing to stock management of various equipment (vehicles, office equipment, technical devices, decoration items).Maintaining up-to-date inventories.Supervising works and building safety.Managing contacts with security firms.ICT Single Point of Contact (SPOC) ResponsibilitiesThe Accountant will serve as the SPOC for ICT, with duties including:Maintaining an updated inventory of ICT equipment.Notifying relevant teams of ICT needs and deficiencies.Assisting with hardware and software installation.Acting as the liaison between the post and the Department’s ICT services.Optimizing and updating communication resources (telephones, smartphones, internet services).Ensuring efficient management of communication budgets.Required Qualifications, Skills, and CompetenciesConditions of ParticipationA university degree in a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.Technical SkillsAt least two years of experience in a similar Accountant role.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.Strong oral and written communication abilities.Ability to meet deadlines.Ability to work autonomously and accurately.Behavioural SkillsThe ideal candidate should possess:Teamwork capabilities.Service-orientation.Integrity and loyalty.Respect for others.Flexibility.Willingness to develop new skills.A strong sense of responsibility.Additional AssetsVery good knowledge of Dutch and/or French (written and spoken).Knowledge of local Tanzanian legislation and customs.Familiarity with Belgium and Belgian legislation.Knowledge of Kiswahili.How to ApplyInterested candidates are invited to submit their application via email.
