Hostel Matron (1 Position)
YWCA Tanzania, Dar es Salaam Branch
Assist in managing hostel operations ensuring safety, cleanliness, and excellent resident relations.
Key Responsibilities
Answer inquiries, allocate rooms, maintain resident logs, and update communication platforms.
Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
Oversee daily routines, health, and social wellbeing of residents and promote YWCA membership through them.
Ensure safety and discipline of hostel residents by monitoring security, enforcing hostel rules, managing visitors, and overseeing security.
Supervise cleanliness, report damages, and ensure water and utilities are available.
Collect payment bank slips, maintain records, assist with budgeting, and ensure compliance with policies.
Conduct market research and support resident welfare.
Be available 24/7 during shifts and assist with other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Advanced secondary education (A Level or equivalent) or any relevant diploma in Education, Theology, or relevant 2 years' experience in similar roles.
Excellent written skills in English and Swahili, with attention to detail, as well as effective communication with staff, visitors, and residents.
Strong computer skills, including typing, data systems, and internet use.
Good planning, reporting, and time management abilities.
Problem-solving skills for quick and accurate resolution.
Respectful and professional in guest service, maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
Ability to manage safety, cleanliness, and resident welfare.
Team player with organizational skills.
