Lodge General Manager - Rafiki RetreatOrganization: Rafiki RetreatLocation: Usa River, Arusha, Tanzania (en route to Arusha National Park)Application deadline: September 6, 2026Job OverviewRafiki Retreat is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lodge General Manager to oversee all administrative and operational aspects of the lodge. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate hospitality professional who thrives in a leadership role and is committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences while supporting sustainable tourism practices.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Lodge General Manager will be responsible for:Overseeing all administrative and operational activities at the lodge.Developing and implementing marketing strategies to enhance the lodge’s visibility and attract new clients.Leading, managing, and motivating the on-site team.Planning and allocating work according to employees’ strengths and capabilities.Preparing and managing budgets to ensure cost-effective operations while maintaining high service standards.Identifying and implementing initiatives to improve operational efficiency and the lodge’s overall performance.Driving business growth by increasing client acquisition and strengthening the lodge’s market presence.Preparing regular reports on financial performance and operational activities for the lodge owner, ideally every week.Introducing and promoting environmentally friendly initiatives that align with the lodge’s mission and vision for sustainable tourism.Maintaining excellent customer service standards.Building and fostering meaningful relationships with guests and stakeholders.RequirementsApplicants should have:A minimum of five years of experience in hotel, tourism, or hospitality management.Strong knowledge of the tourism and hospitality industry, particularly within the Tanzanian market.Demonstrated experience developing strategies to increase lodge visibility, expand the client base, and improve overall business performance.Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate employees while serving as a positive role model.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a natural ability to connect with people.Strong organizational, budgeting, and problem-solving abilities.A commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.Ambitious self-starters with strong industry knowledge and proven capabilities are also encouraged to apply, even if they do not meet the five-year experience requirement.Language RequirementsFluency in English is essential.Proficiency in at least one additional European language is preferred, particularly German.Knowledge of Swahili will be considered an advantage.Work EligibilityRafiki Retreat welcomes applications from both Tanzanian nationals and international candidates. Non-resident applicants are encouraged to apply.
