About the Role
A reputable tour company operating luxury safari camps and lodges in Tanzania is looking for a highly motivated, experienced, and professional Sous Chef to join their kitchen team in their camp in Serengeti National Park.



Key Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen and ensuring smooth daily operations.
Prepare and present high-quality meals according to company standards.
Supervise and guide kitchen staff during food preparation and service.
Ensure food quality, taste, presentation, and consistency.
Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety in the kitchen.
Monitor food stocks and minimize wastage.
Ensure proper storage and handling of food items.
Coordinate kitchen activities with the restaurant and service team.
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.
Ensure all meals are prepared and served on time.
Assist with stock-taking and control of kitchen supplies.
Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety regulations, and camp standards.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Head Chef or management.




Qualifications and Experience

Certificate or Diploma in Food Production or Hotel Management, or a related field.
At least 3 years of working experience as a Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, or in a similar position, preferably in a lodge, hotel, or safari camp.
Experience in a remote safari camp environment will be an added advantage.
Good knowledge of international and local cuisine.
Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
Good leadership and team-management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work and live in a remote camp environment.
Must be disciplined, reliable, creative, and passionate about cooking.
