Job Summary
POWER FENCE LIMITED is seeking a diligent and organized Storeman/Logistics Assistant to join their Logistics Department in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This role reports directly to the Directors and is responsible for the efficient management of warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and dispatching goods, as well as maintaining accurate inventory records.
Core Functions
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery notes.
Record all stock movements accurately in manual registers or ERP systems.
Store goods correctly according to product type, safety, and handling requirements.
Pick, pack, and prepare goods for dispatch according to export and/or customer requirements.
Conduct regular stock counts and assist with periodic stock takes. Report stock shortages, damages, and discrepancies promptly.
Assist with preparation and filing of import and export documentation.
Coordinate with clearing and forwarding agents, transporters, and customs brokers.
Track inbound and outbound shipments and report delays or issues.
Basic Responsibilities
Load and unload trucks and containers (manually or using equipment where applicable).
Assist with ERP/system updates related to inventory and shipments.
Support audits by providing stock and documentation records.
Perform other warehousing or logistics duties as assigned.
Experience and Qualifications
A valid driver's license.
Forklift operation certificate or relevant equipment experience an advantage.
Higher Education Certificate in Warehousing and Logistics an advantage.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior or relevant role.
Good understanding of customs and shipping documentation.
Computer literacy (MS Excel, inventory or ERP systems).
Experience working with clearing & forwarding agents and courier companies.
Knowledge of cross-border trade within East Africa.
Skills
Strong multitasking, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Physical ability to handle warehouse tasks.
Clear communication and teamwork skills.
Basic knowledge of stock control principles (FIFO, binning, reconciliation).
