Cashbook Accountant Vacancy at Serena Hotels
The Cashbook Accountant is responsible for overseeing cash flow operations, processing bank transactions, and maintaining meticulous financial books for Serena Hotels properties across Tanzania. The role plays a vital part in financial control, bank reconciliations, and routine ledger accuracy.
Cashbook & Ledger Maintenance:
- Record all daily cash, cheque, and electronic banking transactions accurately in the general ledger and finance software.
Bank Reconciliation:
- Perform timely daily and monthly bank reconciliations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies or unrecorded bank items.
Cash Flow & Petty Cash Management:
- Monitor daily liquid balances, manage petty cash disbursements, and perform periodic cash audits across departments.
Payment Processing & Verification:
- Verify payment vouchers, vendor invoices, and supporting financial documentation prior to authorizing funds disbursement. ajira
Financial Reporting:
- Compile cash flow schedules, banking reports, and transaction summaries for the Finance Manager and management audits.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Partial or full professional qualifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA) are an added advantage.
Experience:
- 2 to 3 years of progressive experience in accounting, cashbook management, or general ledger operations (hospitality sector experience is preferred).
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SunSystems, Opera, Sage) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
Core Competencies:
- High level of numerical accuracy, integrity, analytical problem-solving, and strict adherence to financial internal controls.
