HR World Limited, on behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit a Chief Accountant who will be responsible for overseeing all financial and management accounting activities, ensuring compliance with IFRS standards, managing financial reporting, tax compliance, and leading the accounting team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all accounting operations including financial and management accounting activities.
- Ensure all accounting entries comply with IFRS and IAS standards.
- Monitor cost centers and profit center postings for accuracy.
- Review general ledger entries and ensure all transactions are properly supported.
- Review bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable aging reports.
- Manage fixed assets accounting, stock control, and cost accounting processes.
- Approve and post journal entries including inventory, sales, purchases, payments, and adjustments.
- Review and approve payment vouchers, payroll, and capital expenditure requests.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and financial reports.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance.
- Ensure proper cut-off procedures and accuracy of trial balances.
- Prepare financial statements in compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate audits, prepare audit schedules, and respond to audit queries.
- Ensure full compliance with tax regulations including VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory obligations.
- Manage treasury functions including cash flow monitoring, bank reconciliations, and forecasting.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Monitor financial risks and implement effective internal controls.
- Supervise, train, and develop accounting staff.
- Act as key user for accounting systems, providing support and coordination with IT.
- Deputize for the Finance Manager when required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
- Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in accounting or tax, preferably in a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, IAS, and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with computerized accounting systems (ERP systems preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
