Chief Financial Officer (CFO)


The CFO shall be a senior executive responsible for providing strategic financial leadership, ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and robust governance across the Company’s mining activity. The position is critical to safeguarding the Company’s financial health, supporting growth and expansion, and enabling informed decision-making at executive and Board levels.

The CFO will be based in Dar es Salaam, with responsibility for overseeing financial operations across all Company projects and sites.

2. Key Responsibilities

2.1 Strategic Financial Leadership

·        Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the Company’s business objectives and long-term growth plans.

·        Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial planning, including mine-life and capital expenditure models.

·        Provide strategic financial advice and recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors.

·        Support investment evaluations, capital allocation decisions..

2.2 Financial Management & Reporting

·        Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

·        Oversee management accounts, financial performance analysis, and reporting to senior management and the Board.

·        Monitor profitability, cost structures, and operational efficiency.

·        Establish and monitor financial KPIs to support decision-making.

2.3 Treasury, Cash Flow & Funding

·        Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity.

·        Maintain relationships with banks and financial institutions.

·        Monitor cash forecasts and optimise funding structures.

·        Oversee asset management and financing arrangements.

2.4 Taxation, Compliance & Governance

·        Oversee tax planning, statutory filings, and regulatory submissions.

·        Ensure compliance with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA).

·        Advise management on tax risks and legislative changes.

·        Implement strong internal controls and oversee audits.

2.5 Leadership & People Management !!!!

·        Lead, direct, and supervise a finance team of five (5) professionals, including two (2) qualified CPAs.

·        Set clear objectives, performance standards, and accountability structures.

·        Mentor and develop finance staff.

·        Strengthen departmental capacity through improved systems and controls.

2.6 Stakeholder & Board Engagement

·        Prepare and present financial reports to the Directors.

·        Manage relationships with auditors, regulators, and lenders.

·        Act as a trusted financial advisor to senior management.

3. Performance, Accountability & Leadership Expectations

The Chief Financial Officer must be a highly target-oriented and results-driven executive. The role requires full understanding of the complete scope of financial, accounting, tax, and reporting obligations of a mining company operating in Tanzania, with personal responsibility for ensuring that all deliverables are completed accurately and strictly within agreed deadlines.

·        Demonstrate strong ownership of outcomes and full accountability for the performance of the finance function.

·        Plan, assign, supervise, and control the work of five (5) subordinate accountants, including two (2) CPAs.

·        Ensure timely completion of all financial reports, tax filings, audits, and statutory submissions.

·        Maintain strict discipline regarding deadlines, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.

·        Take full responsibility for the results, accuracy, and timeliness of the finance team’s output.

·        Proactively identify bottlenecks, resolve issues, and drive the team toward consistent on-time delivery.
