Role Summary

The Chief Technical Officer (CTO) will lead the technical direction and delivery of all company projects across the civil engineering, mining, telecommunications and energy divisions. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring engineering quality, workplace safety, cost control and compliance with relevant regulatory requirements while providing strategic technical leadership across the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement company-wide technical strategies, standards and best practices.
• Oversee engineering design reviews, construction methodologies and quality assurance processes.
• Lead technical tendering processes, including proposal preparation, costing and risk assessment.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to project managers and site teams.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements, ISO standards and Contractors Registration Board (CRB) regulatory requirements.
• Manage technical relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.

• Mentor and develop technical staff to strengthen organisational technical capacity.
• Report technical performance and project progress to the Managing Director and Board.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mining Engineering.
• A Master’s Degree or Master of Business Administration (MBA) will be an added advantage.
• Professional Engineer registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) is mandatory.
• At least six (6) years of relevant work experience, including five (5) years in senior technical or project leadership roles.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale civil engineering, mining, telecommunications or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts, project cost control and project scheduling.
• Excellent command of both English and Kiswahili.
• Must be a Tanzanian citizen with a high level of professional integrity.
