Who we are
CEFA (European Committee for Training and Agriculture) is an Italian NGO implementing projects in Tanzania since 1975. In the last 40 years, CEFA has devoted itself to enabling processes of sustainable development, focusing its action towards the implementation of integrated rural development projects located in the Southern Highlands. CEFA collaborates with public and private entities, both in Italy and internationally. The main founders of its programmes are: EU, UN agencies, private foundations, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, public entities and individuals.
CEFA is now seeking a Commercial Coordinator to support the implementation of a clean-cooking project in Dar es Salaam. The role will be crucial for coordinating promotional activities, managing sales representatives, supporting stove distribution, and ensuring high adoption and effective follow-up among beneficiary households.
Scope of Work and Objectives
For the Coordination Office in Dar es Salaam, CEFA is looking for a Commercial Coordinator. Under the direction and the supervision of the CEFA’s Country Director and in collaboration with CEFA’s Project Manager, the Commercial Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:
Commercial Operations and Promotions:
Plan, coordinate, and monitor promotional campaigns to support outreach and stove adoption among eligible households, ensuring alignment with project targets and strategies.
Support community mobilization and participation in stakeholder meetings, household demonstrations, and awareness events.
Work closely with CEFA management to ensure promotional messaging aligns with technical and safety guidelines for the use of Clean Cookstoves.
Sales Force Management:
Manage the selection, onboarding, and training of Sales Representatives, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary technical and commercial knowledge to communicate stove benefits, conduct demonstrations, and support household enrollment.
Supervise and coordinate daily field operations of Sales Representatives, ensuring they meet distribution, sales, and follow-up targets.
Provide continuous coaching, mentoring, and performance monitoring of the sales team.
Field Coordination & Distribution Support:
Coordinate with CEFA staff to support the distribution of Clean Cookstoves and ensure compliance with weekly targets as per project agreements.
Oversee on-site verification of correct stove installation, operational checks, and data transmission functionality during start-up.
Ensure that Sales Representatives accurately collect household data, signatures, and required documentation during contracting and distribution.
Follow-up & Customer Support:
Coordinate follow-ups and targeted in-person visits for households with low energy consumption or technical issues.
Supervise Sales Representatives in providing user training on safe and efficient stove usage.
Support CEFA’s maintenance strategy, ensuring quick problem reporting, stove replacement, or technician intervention when needed.
Contribute to household satisfaction monitoring and the improvement of user-adoption strategies.
Reporting and Data Management:
Ensure weekly reporting of outreach, sales, distribution, installation, and follow-up data, consolidating field reports into accurate summaries.
Track sales team performance, productivity, and quality of customer interactions.
Ensure proper archiving of field documentation and household data in compliance with CEFA procedures.
Skills and Abilities Required
ESSENTIAL:
Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related fields.
Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial coordination, sales team management, or field-based customer engagement – preferably in NGO, social enterprise, or clean-energy programs.
Proved experience in supervising field teams, organizing promotional campaigns, and coordinating sales and customer-support activities.
Strong ability to work with communities, mobilize beneficiaries, and manage behavior-change campaigns.
Proficiency in English and proven ability to write official letters and documents in English and Kiswahili.
Excellent Knowledge of Excel (Complex Formula, Pivot Table).
Be a Tanzanian citizen.
The Employee is requested to keep a flexible attitude and good degree of adaptation to possible modifications and/or integration to the foreseen duties on the basis of necessities that may arise locally, and to make an effort to integrate his/her work in the wider context of CEFA presence in Tanzania in order to facilitate consistency and continuity among current and prospective projects.
PREFERRED:
Experience in the clean-cooking, energy, or appliance-distribution sector.
Experience in managing digital data collection tools.
Prior experience working with NGOs or development partners.
Demonstrated capacity in staff training or community engagement methodologies.
