Credit Underwriting Officer

HR World Ltd, on behalf of our client, we are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Credit Underwriting Officer who will be responsible for evaluating credit applications, assessing risk profiles, and ensuring sound credit decisions in line with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and analyze credit applications to determine the creditworthiness of applicants.

  • Conduct financial analysis on clients’ income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow to assess repayment capacity.

  • Prepare detailed credit appraisal reports with recommendations for approval or decline.

  • Ensure all loan documentation and security requirements comply with company policies and regulatory guidelines.

  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers to clarify client information and gather additional documentation when necessary.

  • Ensure accurate risk grading and adherence to credit policies and underwriting standards.

  • Participate in the design and implementation of credit risk mitigation strategies.

  • Support portfolio monitoring and review existing facilities to identify early warning signs of risk.

  • Provide feedback and guidance to the sales and credit teams to improve credit quality and turnaround time.

  • Assist in the periodic review and updating of credit policies, procedures, and product guidelines.

  • Prepare periodic reports on credit approvals, rejections, and risk exposures for management review.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Economics, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in credit underwriting, analysis, or risk management within a financial institution.

  • Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or a Credit Risk qualification will be an added advantage.

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.

  • In-depth understanding of lending processes, credit risk principles, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to make sound judgments under pressure.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and credit assessment tools.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
