Grants Manager
Reports to: Head of Finance and Administration
Contract Duration: One Year
TEN/MET is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Grants Manager to oversee the organization’s financial operations and grant portfolio. This critical role ensures that all grants and sub-grants are managed in full compliance with donor regulations, internal policies, and applicable Tanzanian laws.
The Grants Manager will lead the entire grant lifecycle—from proposal development and budgeting to reporting and close-out—while also building internal and partner capacity to ensure financial integrity, operational efficiency, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Oversight
- Provide leadership across the full grants cycle: planning, implementation, reporting, and close-out.
- Lead development of competitive proposals and compliant budgets with program, finance, and M&E teams.
- Ensure full compliance with donor regulations and national laws.
- Strengthen internal grants systems and maintain a grants calendar.
- Build internal capacity on grants management and compliance.
Grants Management
- Oversee day-to-day grant operations, budget monitoring, and variance analysis.
- Produce timely and accurate narrative and financial reports.
- Coordinate internal review meetings to resolve issues and track deliverables.
- Develop tools for budgeting, tracking, and financial accountability.
Compliance & Subgrants
- Review subgrantee proposals, budgets, and financial plans.
- Draft and finalize agreements, MoUs, and contracts.
- Maintain robust internal controls and conduct compliance checks.
- Support internal/external audits and risk mitigation.
Documentation & Capacity Building
- Maintain complete and audit-ready records of all grant activities.
- Lead sub-grant close-out and ensure documentation archiving.
- Provide training and mentorship to staff and partners on compliance, financial reporting, and donor standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Master’s and CPA (T)/ACCA/ACPA preferred.
- At least 7 years in senior grants or finance roles in non-profit or development settings.
- Proficiency in budgeting, reporting, and donor compliance frameworks.
- Strong understanding of IPSAS, GAAP, and donor audit processes.
- Experience with financial systems such as Odoo ERP or QuickBooks.
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation abilities.
