Airtel Tanzania PLC wishes to recruit for an Head of Merchant Pay. The role reports to the Airtel Money Director in Airtel Money Department. The Incumbent will be responsible;

Driving the overall Airtel Money merchant payments strategy and be accountable for the delivery of all Airtel money merchant KPIs. These will include;

  • Merchant Acquisition – design and implement acquisition strategy for the Airtel Money merchant business, management of outsourced merchant acquisition partners and teams, achievement of regional acquisition targets.
  • Active Merchants- responsible for number of revenue generating merchants, merchant activations and promotions, tie-ups with strategic merchants for promotions and driving usage.
  • Trade marketing and visibility- ensure appropriate and adequate trade branding for merchant base by segment

 

The Role Holder duties will include but not limited to:

1.Drive Key Airtel Money Merchant Acquisition;

  • Clearly understands the Regions AM merchant gaps per site as defined by set norms, and design strategies to achieve desired merchant acquisition plans
  • Identify, onboard and supervise merchant acquisition agencies to ensure merchant acquisition KPIs are met.
  • Site level monitoring of merchant acquisition performance, identify challenges and support teams on the ground to achieve set KPIs

 

2.Active merchants, drive merchant business utilization;

  • Ensure continuous growth of the 30 day active merchant base and achievement of 30 day active merchants as per set targets
  • Monitor region and site wise performance of active merchants, identify weak areas and develop strategies to growth merchant activity in these areas
  • Responsible for the growth of unique Airtel Money users using the merchant pay service, both on net and offnet

 

3.Trade visibility and Branding

  • Develop and execute a segmented approach to merchant branding, define branding elements to be deployed per segment
  • Develop branding deployment plans and ensure all Airtel money merchants are branded, and easily recognizable.
  • Be responsible for Airtel Money branding budget and ensure efficient use of available budget while achieving branding objectives

 

4.AM Promotions and Activations

  • Execute merchant pay Go-To Market activations in the regions to encourage merchant paym utilization for both merchants and Airtel money subscribers.
  • Share product knowledge to all regional teams, Shops, TSMs, TLs
  • Continuously identify strategic merchants and build joint promotions with strategic merchants to drive utilization and brand awareness of merchant payments.
  • Ensure continuous regional Radio interview to promote Airtel Money merchant payments.
  • Arrange and coordinate BTL activations for merchant and customer acquisition and product promotion.
  • Track competition’s activities and programs in the region

 

5.Reporting and Other Duties

  • Design key KPIs reports and ensure all relevant regional teams receive timely reports for tracking and execution.
  • Prepare timely management reports highlighting performance against set business KRAs
  • Maintain clear commercial reports, and KPIs trackers.
  • Produce and deliver required reports for the business on demand.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the line manager from time to time

 

Academic and Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Business administration , Commerce or any other related field with in-depth understanding of Mobile money trends
  • MBA in Marketing will be an added advantage
  • A minimum of 7+years of experience in commercial or Business Development, sales and relationship management experience in the Mobile Money/Telecom/Banking Industries
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of payments ecosystem, product life cycles and relationship management
  • Good communication and people skills.
