Maternity Africa operates from its base at Kivulini Maternity Centre, located just outside the city of Arusha in Northern Tanzania.
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Hospital Laundry Attendant to join our patient care team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. This role involves the collection, sorting, washing, drying, pressing/ironing, folding, and distribution of hospital linens and staff uniforms. You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the laundry room, equipment, and machinery.
Role Responsibilities
- Collect and sort soiled linens from patient rooms and other areas of the hospital.
- Operate industrial washing machines and dryers.
- Wash, maintain, and perform minor repairs on employees’ uniforms.
- Fold and stack clean linens.
- Distribute clean linens to patient rooms and other areas of the hospital.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the laundry room and drying areas.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills Required
- Must have an O-level (Secondary School Certificate).
- A certificate in Laundry Operations or Assistant Nursing is desirable.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a hospital laundry attendant.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy loads.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
