POSITION: Production and Operations Manager (1 POST)
Epvate & Fortune International Consulting Ltd (EFIC) is currently the market leader in management consulting, and HR Consulting services and the one-stop center for turn-around consulting, Training, recruitment, Research, Digital information, outsourcing, and consultancy Company with its Headquarters at PSSSF Commercial Tower, 9th floor, Sam Nujoma Road in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. EFIC on behalf of a client, is seeking to employ a Production and Operation Manager who will undertake the responsibilities mentioned below.
1. Role Purpose
The Production and Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire production cycle, ensuring efficient workflow, managing costs, meeting quality standards, and guaranteeing on-time delivery to satisfy customer demands. This role is crucial for driving operational efficiency and supporting overall business growth and profitability.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Operations and Production Management:
- Scheduling & Allocation: Schedule the production/printing of all customer orders and efficiently allocate work and resources (labor, materials, equipment) to individuals and teams.
- Workflow Optimization: Monitor machine performance and workflows to minimize downtime, bottlenecks, and waste, ensuring high productivity.
- Coordination: Coordinate activities across all production stages, including pre-press, press, finishing, and dispatch teams, to ensure seamless execution.
- Inventory Control: Maintain accurate and optimal inventory levels of raw materials (ink, plates, paper) and monitor stock of finished goods.
B. Quality and Delivery Management:
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all jobs meet specified quality standards, color standards, and client requirements.
- On-Time Delivery: Strictly monitor and ensure all orders are delivered on time, meeting the established turnaround times.
C. Supervision and Team Leadership:
- Management: Directly manage and provide leadership to the Production Supervisor and the Sales & Marketing Supervisor.
- Performance: Review the performance of direct reports and ensure all team members adhere to company policies, safety protocols, and quality guidelines.
D. Cost Management:
- Efficiency: Identify opportunities for process improvements that reduce operational costs without compromising quality.
- Budget: Contribute to departmental budgeting and manage operational expenses effectively.
3. Required Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in an operational management role, preferably within the printing, manufacturing, or similar production-heavy industry.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong technical knowledge of the printing process (offset, digital, large format) and associated machinery.
4. Key Skills and Competencies
- Technical Printing & Branding Knowledge: Deep understanding of printing technology, quality control, and maintenance protocols.
- Leadership and Coordination: Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, allocate resources, and coordinate complex, time-sensitive projects.
- Planning & Scheduling: Expert proficiency in production planning, scheduling, and logistics.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve production issues and machine performance problems.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting to the Managing Director and coordinating with supervisors and staff.
